We're moving!

After 2 years as the Zeeland Open at the Adriaen Coortelaan and no fewer than 27 years as the HZ Tournament in the Atrium of the HZ University of Applied Sciences, the international chess tournament of Vlissingen has a new name and a new playing venue this year.

The thirtieth edition of the sunniest chess tournament in the Netherlands will be held from 1 to 8 August at the Scheldemond College, a secondary school that is pleased to provide space for top-level sport in all its forms.

Apart from the name — the Scheldemond Chess Tournament — and the venue, nothing about the format will change. Players young and old, from the Netherlands and abroad, amateurs and professionals: all competing together in one large group. Most rounds will once again be played in the evening, making the tournament easy to combine with a holiday on the Zeeland coast.
